Your Eyes

Hand in pouch. Grab. Scatter. Water. Pray. Hope. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

No growth.

“What’s wrong? Why won’t it grow? This is the finest grain. Exactly as instructed. This is costly, time consuming…useless. I want to quit.”

“No.”

“No? Why do you say that? The kernels are not prospering. It’s like trying to sow on concrete. It’s painful, draining.”

“It’s working.”

“It’s wasting my time and my energy.”

“The harvest is germinating.”

“What are you talking about? Look at this territory! It’s barren, cold, lifeless. My efforts are all for naught.”

“Others are watching. They observe how you cultivate. They watch you water. They ponder the prayers, the kind words. They note your actions.”

“Who cares? I want this topsoil to produce.”

“All around you. Look! You are bearing fruit. You are creating pathways. People are traversing behind you. As far as your eyes can gaze in every direction tiny, brilliant, green seedling are sprouting.”

“Does it really matter?”

“Yes, it does! Everyone around you is changing for the good.”

“I don’t understand.”

“That fallow turf will eventually come to harvest. It will. I don’t know when, but you have tilled correctly and there will be an oasis in the desert… Someday. Today, your example is altering MY choices. I plow also. My domain is abundant. I wouldn’t know how to do it if I hadn’t been watching you.”

“Really?”

“Truly.”

“I’m listening and considering your message. Trying to process what you were communicating. I need to see it through your eyes. Keep telling me. I need to hear it. Thank you.”

“Good. I speak truth.”

…but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.

  1. Galatians 6:9 so let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone especially to those in the family of faith.
